00:00:05	 	JAIRRON ISAAC’s VOICE: I wound up failing the seventh grade. There was a lot of negative influences and a lot of peer pressure, and I fit into it.
00:00:17                    JAIRRON ISAAC’s VOICE: Mentally I wasn’t strong enough to decipher, what was right and what was wrong. You know. I just wanted to be down; I wanted to be down with the crowd. I wanted to just be a cool kid, and that wasn’t for me.
00:00:29	                 JAIRRON ISAAC’s VOICE: My 10th grade year in high school, I came to Cohen, I loved it.
00:00:33		JAIRRON’s MOTHER: You have a lot going on, your AP courses and your extra-curricular, but I’m proud of the way you juggle everything.
00:00:41		JAIRRON ISAAC: It’s definitely a magician act.
00:00:43		JAIRRON’s MOTHER: It is- The good thing is we make it happen.
00:00:45		JAIRRON ISAAC: Yep.
00:00:49 		JAIRRON ISAAC’s VOICE: When I first heard the idea of taking an AP course, I didn’t want to do it, because I didn’t think I was going to be successful in the course.
00:00:54		JAIRRON ISAAC’s VOICE: But eventually, you know, I had people around me supporting me saying, “You can do it, I’ll help you,” and I took it. I took that challenge, I’m all about challenges.
00:01:07		JAIRRON ISAAC’s VOICE: I actually like literature now. Shakespeare’s a really really tough wrier, he’s a great writer but he’s a tough writer.
00:01:14 		JAIRRON ISAAC’s VOICE: I understand literature in a new way. 
00:01:18		JAIRRON ISAAC’s VOICE: A lot of students don’t take AP courses, they think AP courses are like the hardest thing in the world, which it really isn’t.
00:01:25		JAIRRON ISAAC’s VOICE: It’s better preparing me to take on college.
00:01:30		JAIRRON ISAAC’s VOICE:  I know it’d make my father happy if he sees me being  a really educated young black man. 
00:01:35 		JAIRRON ISAAC’s VOICE:  That really motivates me.
00:01:38 		JAIRRON ISAAC’s VOICE: I wasn’t gaining anything in life, trying to follow other people. If I want to prosper in life, I just have to be myself.
00:01:48 		JAIRRON ISAAC’s VOICE: My name is Jairron Isaac and I take AP Literature.
